Public Toilets

As most of you probably know South Lanarkshire Council have closed all of the public toilets in the county which means that for some time now there have been no public facilities in the village.
The Leadhills Community Company would like to put in a ‘Right to Buy’ interest in the toilet facilities located in the parking area next to the school. To enable this we need to prove we have the support of a good percentage of the village. To this end, we have placed forms in both the hotel bar and in the shop. If you would like to show your support for this endeavor please sign either of these forms.
The forms will be collected at the end of November so that we can submit the registration in December.
Many thanks to those that have already shown their support.

A meeting was held on Friday 6th, September 2019 to get an update from Gerard Godfrey, who is representing Leadhills Community Company in discussion with South Lanarkshire Council. The council has agreed that Leadhills Community Company will be allowed to operate the toilets under license for a period to assess our ability to manage them. We are therefore going to negotiate this period to start in April 2020 until October 2020 this will allow for the acquisition of the Stables and give the company a more realistic chance of sustaining these facilities.
